Simplicity and Elegance go hand in hand and if you pay attention to tiny details around your home, you can have a home that not only reflects your personality but will look stylish and chic too. The architect Sanjiv Malhan of OFIA (Office for International Architecture), New Delhi has created a wonderful, cozy and striking home in Calangute, North Goa, India which combine the best colours and elements in Balinese style.  The house has an overall area of 4500 sqft. Sanjiv Malhan believes that an overuse of colours can become overwhelming after a while and hence it is always safe to go with a minimalist approach as far as colours are concerned. This home has a leather-finished granite stone work. The wood used in this project is Malaysian Sal.  This house is a perfect combination of it all.

Perfect Exterior Look

A look of the home in the night time gives you an idea of what the house may look like on the inside. The lights reflect the wonderful combination of elements that make up this beautiful home designed by OFIA. Elements used are wooden and galvanized iron battens and cladding, painted wall with texture and sloping roof forms.

Interesting use of designs

The wonderful use of unique designs complements the use of distinctive pieces such as the colourful stools in this area. The lamp adds to the wonderful charm of this area.

Pretty Outdoor Area

This is a wonderful look at the exteriors deck right outside the home. The use of traditional stones and wood decking for the flooring is a great choice. It is not only old-style but is great as it is easy to maintain as well.

Great Choice of Accents

While the stone Buddha is a common feature in the outdoors, this accent here seems to be perfect as it rests in front of the white and creates the right contrast. The statue has a bronze finish and is supported by a very thin stack of stones cladding on the waterfall.

Pleasing Sitting Room

This is a wonderful composition in terms of design, form and structure as the colours work well together and space seems well-put-together. The two red chairs work their magic in a room that is dominated by creams and whites.

Spectacular Dining Room

The dining room is formal and elegant as well. The off-white cushioned chairs complement the dark colour of the timber dining table. The artwork on the opposite wall seems to pick up on the traditional Balinese theme quite well.

Tropical Bedroom

Sanjiv Malhan’s use of wooden flooring, the four-poster bed, the colours including the sap green of the artwork all contribute to making this room look tropical. You are bound to feel like you are on a vacation once you are in here.

Lighting under stairs

The stairs to the first floor may not be unusual in terms of design but are an example of a thoughtful design. An addition of the lights makes this part of the house a lot safer than it is.

Great use of Lights

The best part of the design of the house by Sanjiv Malhan is the extensive use of mood lighting to enhance the look of the home. It perfectly complements the wood and textures used around the home.Join us on the next tour that will excite you on your journey to your dream home.15 pictures of dining rooms to inspire you!
