Let’s except the reality! Cleaning the bathroom is a chore which none of us really like to do. But it is also a fact that we all love to use a spotlessly clean and fragrant fresh bathroom. We often wonder how often a bathroom should be cleaned so that it is hygienic to use and still not be a loathed task. Our professionals opine that ideally the bathroom should be cleaned once in a week. However, it depends a lot on the use. In addition to it, there are certain spots in the bathroom which need special attention and care. Let’s have a deeper look for a sparkling clean bathroom.

1. Cleaning of toilet seat in bathroom

It’s not a secret! We all know that the toilet seat is the dirtiest spot of the house and it is for obvious reason. With every flush, the force of water releases the bacteria and germs of the waste matter into the air. The microorganism ultimately gets settled everywhere in the bathroom. From the cover of seat to outer side of commode to the taps to sink… you name it and it is there. So when it comes to toilet seat there is no set rule of cleaning it. If you think it needs cleaning do it!

If you are leaving alone, you can opt of weekly cleaning option. But with elders and children at home you have to be extra careful or else they will pick up the germs and get sick. Make it a habit to clean the seat cover, handle, tap and outer area every day with antibacterial cleaner. You can use the toilet cleaners available in market to clean the toilet bowl. Or you can make the homemade toilet cleaner by mixing ¾ cup borax powder, 1 cup white vinegar, a few drops of perfume of your choice and lemon oil. Store the mixture in a spray bottle and spray the solution on the toilet bowl and the parts you want to clean. Let it set for a few hours or for better result leave it overnight. Don’t use the bathroom in that time. Give a nice scrub with brush and flush it.

2. Cleaning of the sink in bathroom

Sink should be cleaned every day irrespective of the fact whether it needs cleaning or not. Sink is the most used part of bathroom, often used for washing to brushing to cleaning and it gets dirty with germs from flushing of toilet bowl too. You can use the toilet cleaner or all-purpose cleaner to clean the sink. You can also wipe it with antibacterial cleaner to keep it disinfected.

3. Cleaning of the shower curtain

Take it out and toss the shower curtain in the washing machine once a week. Use mild soap and warm water to wash it to get rid of stains and dry out in sun to make it germ-free. Also always remember to spread out the shower curtain in shower after the shower so that it dries out while hanging every day.

4. Cleaning of shower area in bathroom

The shower zone and bathtub should be cleaned once a week and that will be enough to keep it clean. Make sure to wipe the glass door of shower dry after each shower to prevent it getting stained. However, if it still gets stain you can get rid of it by scrubbing it with half-cut lemon dipped in baking soda. It will remove all the stains from glass door and make it sparkle again.

5. Cleaning of mirror in bathroom

Clean the mirror of the bathroom daily. Mirror gets stained by toothpaste, water splash and of course the germs in the bathroom. Just wipe it with damp cloth or any glass cleaner daily to keep alive the sparkle.

6. Cleaning the bath towels of bathroom

It is unhygienic to use the same towel for a week. Remember to replace and clean all the towels of the bathroom- bath towel, bathrobe, hand towel and face towel every alternate day.
